Can't resist an antique shop....

On one of our last days at The Lemon Tree we took a short ride to the nearby village of Calatabiano.  It's just a few miles from Giardini, and it is a non-touristy, workaday town.  It's best known for the Norman castle high on a hill above town which is reached by funicular, which for some reason, wasn't operating...  We took a few pictures around town....
Here's the Norman castle, as seen from town...

A beautiful old church...
A man selling fresh fish from his truck...

A beautifully paint decorated Ape...

Featuring scenes of Sicily...
The street sweeper's cart...The broom, really... ?

But we can't resist an antique shop.  We found this little place where the man specialized in antique lighting and ceramics.  We spent almost an hour with him, as he proudly showed and explained every item to us, all in Italian, of course, but slowly and patiently, so we could understand...
This was the entrance to his shop...

The two long handled lamps were used to lead processions...

An antique Telefunken radio & record player...

We listened to several records, including "Can't Live if Livin is Without You" by Air Supply...

And he showed us this great jug... We didn't ask the price...
But we did buy this 100-year-old ceramic oil lamp, a collection of old skeleton keys, and an old wood scraper.  Joe just can't resist antique tools...

Who knows what other treasures we'll find... May need another suitcase!
